No_Hitters_MLB_1998-2015Jake Arrieta’s no-hitter of the Dodgers on Sunday was the sixth such performance in 2015, continuing a recent trend of more no-nos. One more hitless game would match the modern MLB record of seven in a season, set in 1990, ’91 and 2012.

World Series: Royals break out


Down 3-2 and coming off a complete-game shutout at the hands of Madison Bumgarner, the Royals found a good time to match their second-largest single-inning output of the season, scoring seven runs off Jake Peavy and Yusmeiro Petit in the second inning of Tuesday’s game. Not only did Kansas City stay alive with a 10-0 victory, but the early outburst allowed the Royals to keep their fearsome bullpen fresh for a winner-take-all Game 7.
