Of all the crazy things that happened in last night’s AL Wild-Card Game — Kansas City tying a playoff record for stolen bases (and nearly doing the same in sacrifice bunts), Jarrod Dyson joining Dave Roberts in the pantheon of postseason steals, Ned Yost and Bob Melvin trading blindfolded dart throws — the most important, and possibly the most improbable, was the Royals erasing a four-run deficit in the eighth and ninth innings to force extras. Kansas City only won two regular-season games in which it trailed by at least four runs — never later than the fifth inning.
